Interior Painters in Los Angeles
Interior painting from Los Angeles Home Remodelers covers walls, ceilings, trim, doors and built-ins, with the prep that makes paint last. We’re interior painters and remodelers working across Los Angeles, CA, from a single room to a whole house.
One project manager runs the job: we move and cover furniture, patch and sand, prime stains and bare plaster, then roll and brush two finish coats of low-VOC paint in the sheen you pick. Homes built before 1978 get EPA lead-safe prep. Most rooms take a day or two, and your free in-home visit ends with a written, itemized estimate.

Interior painting, Los Angeles
Serving homes across Los Angeles, CA.
Interior painting lasts when the surface underneath is clean, sound and primed, so most of our time goes into prep. You get straight cut lines at the ceiling, smooth trim and walls that wash clean.
Older LA homes add their own work. A 1920s Spanish Revival may have cracked plaster and layers of oil paint on the trim, while a 1980s tract house often has flat builder paint that marks the moment you wipe it.
We protect what stays. Floors get drop cloths, furniture gets moved and wrapped, and switch plates and hardware come off before a brush touches the wall.
Painting services
Pick the scope that fits your schedule. All three get the same prep, primer and cleanup.
A whole-house repaint covers every wall, ceiling, door and run of trim on one schedule. We work through the house in sections, so a bedroom and a bath stay usable while the rest gets painted.
One color plan ties the rooms together, and one crew keeps the sheen and cut lines the same everywhere.
Sometimes one room is enough: a nursery, a home office or a stairwell scuffed by years of traffic. We paint the room or a single accent wall and leave the rest of the house alone.
We match your existing trim color, or bring samples if the room’s getting a new look.
An empty house is the fastest one to paint. Between escrow and the moving truck, we can spray ceilings and trim, roll the walls and be gone before your furniture arrives.
Landlords book the same service between tenants, with washable finishes picked for rentals.
How it works
Three of the four steps happen before the finish coat. That’s where a paint job is won or lost.
We walk the rooms with you, note repairs, check whether lead-safe rules apply and leave color samples to try.
Furniture moves to the middle and gets covered, floors get masked, then we fill, sand, caulk trim gaps and spot-prime.
Ceilings go first, then walls, then trim and doors. Most rooms get two finish coats over primed repairs.
We pull the masking, put plates and hardware back, clean up and walk the rooms with you to touch up anything you spot.
What we paint
Each surface takes its own prep and its own sheen. Here’s how we handle each one.
Ceilings go first, so drips never land on finished walls. Walls then get a sharp cut line at the ceiling and baseboard, followed by two rolled coats for even color.
Baseboards, casings and doors take the most knocks, so they get a harder satin or semi-gloss enamel. We fill nail holes, caulk the gaps and sand between coats for a smooth finish.
Craftsman and Spanish homes often have built-in bookcases, window seats and linen cupboards. We degloss the old finish, apply a bonding primer and brush out each coat for a hard, even surface.
Plaster walls in 1920s and ’30s homes crack along the lath, and fresh patches soak up paint unevenly. We fill cracks with mesh tape and setting compound, prime every repair and keep the plaster’s soft texture.
Paint reads differently in LA’s strong afternoon sun than on a small chip. We paint large samples on your walls, and you check them morning and evening before you choose.
Low-VOC and zero-VOC paints cut the smell and the fumes, so you can sleep at home while we work. We open windows, run fans and keep pets out of painted rooms until they dry.
Older homes
If your home was built before 1978, older paint layers may contain lead, and scraping or sanding them makes dust you can’t see. We follow EPA lead-safe work practices whenever our prep disturbs that paint.
Here’s what that looks like:
Lead-safe prep takes more time, and your estimate shows it as its own line. Kids and pets stay out of the work area until we’ve cleaned and checked it.
Painting over sound old paint is fine. The risk comes from chipping, peeling and the dust prep makes, which is exactly what these steps control.
Paint sheen
Sheen decides how much a wall hides and how well it cleans. Flatter paint hides more, and glossier paint wipes cleaner.

The hardest-wearing finish
Flat paint hides seams, patches and the long shadows a window throws across a ceiling. We use a ceiling flat unless you want color up there.
Bare drywall, plaster patches and water stains take primer first. Skip it, and the finish coat flashes or the stain bleeds back through.
We can match a color from a chip of your wall, but old paint has aged. Painting corner to corner hides the difference.
Satin or semi-gloss helps in a bath, but the exhaust fan does the real work against moisture. We check that it runs before we paint.
One visit covers the rooms, the repairs your walls need and the colors you’re weighing. It’s free, and you don’t sign anything.
Questions
Short answers on cost, timing, coats, furniture and lead paint.
Call and you’ll talk to a project manager, not a call center.
It comes down to square footage, ceiling height, wall repairs, and how much trim and how many doors you’re painting. Lead-safe prep and a dark-to-light color change add time. We price each line in your written estimate after the free visit.
Most single rooms take a day or two. A whole-house repaint usually runs about 1–2 weeks, depending on size, repairs and whether the house is empty. Plaster repairs and lead-safe prep add days.
Two finish coats over primed repairs, in most rooms. A big color change, like deep red to white, may need a tinted primer first. One coat rarely gives even color or full washability.
No. We move furniture to the middle of the room, cover it and the floors, and put it back when we’re done. Pack small breakables and wall art, or we’ll take them down for you.
It can be if your home was built before 1978 and the work will disturb old paint. We check the age, follow EPA lead-safe practices on those jobs and tell you when testing makes sense.
Yes. Low-VOC paint keeps the smell down, and we paint in sections so you always have a bedroom and a bath. On lead-safe jobs, kids and pets stay out of the sealed work area until cleanup.
Yes, with the right prep. Stained or varnished wood needs cleaning, scuff-sanding and a bonding primer, or the paint peels. Original Craftsman woodwork is hard to strip once painted, so we talk it through first.
Yes. Nail holes, small cracks and dents are part of every paint job. Bigger work, like water-stained ceilings, large holes or skim-coating plaster, goes to our drywall crew as its own line.
Eggshell suits most living areas, satin suits kids’ rooms and halls, semi-gloss suits trim and doors, and flat suits ceilings. The sheen table above shows the trade-offs.
